Mec Identification
« on: November 30, 2016, 04:34:43 PM »
It is hoped to be able to help people identify their Meconopsis. So if you have ID issues please ask away and we will see what we can do.

I find the racemosa, prattii and rudis plants hard to distinguish between one and other

The attached from seed from the seed exchange. Lovely deep shiny blue and retains the colour until it drops. Next generation looks the same.

Resending the picture after reading ianC's post on sizing to see if it makes any difference.

I am attaching a photo of a CC7714 I have. At the moment my guess is it is staintonii. It is obviously in a pot (10L) along with 2 others and I intend to keep them isolated to prevent cross-pollination. I will post further photos as they go on.

I now think paniculata see later post

I can see it on the post & by clicking on it see it in photo-viewer.
Do you have to log in to see images?

I have just logged out to check & you cannot see any attachments unless you are logged in.

Thank you - seeing it now and it looks really good. Yes, one needs to be logged in to see the photos (which I was) but it was probably me not reading properly.

I was given seed from a regular source and told it was Prattii but I think not. See photographs. Plants are about 18" tall and bulking well looks like they will be perennial. Any suggestions?

My plants of CC 7714 are also flowering. Nice example of Meconopsis paniculata as tentatively identified by Chris Chadwell when he sent out seed allocations.

Any thoughts on this one? The flower buds come off the stems. Very pretty. Source is MGS105. From a dozen plants there are about eight variations in colour from white through shades of blue to purple but all with flowers down the stem apart from one.
