Meconopsis Superba
« on: 04 June, 2019, 22:35:18 »
I am just wondering how other members who grow M superba are doing. I seem to be struggling.

  • Firstly, i am struggling to germinate the seed i have had from the exchange.
  • Then, i am down to my last plant in the garden.
  • now i am really concerned that i cannot grow it anymore

Please share any information you can if you grow this lovely plant

We have a nice group in Sheffield Botanic Gardens though none have decided to flower this year. They seemed to survive last year's hot dry spell the best of all the species we are growing. I'm hoping that they will follow the pattern we had at Kerrachar and not all flower at once so that we can maintain succession.

I am struggling with that as well Peter. I am now down to just one plant and am struggling with the seed i have been getting over the last two years. Too hot i think and my watering regime may not be good enough.

Ill keep trying.

I'll try to get a picture of our plants today Matt. Just now they are the stars of the Meconopsis Bed in Sheffield Botanic Gardens though there are still a few flowers on the now rather scruffy Meconopsis wallichii plants. Hope I ca work out how to post the picture

Hi Peter

if you look at the bottom of a post, you will see the word reply link. Click and reply with whatever text you wish and if you want to add pictures just look at the bottom left of the text box you are writing in (see the attached picture ) and make your choice. The insert image has a niggling issue of adding some hypertext before and after the picture (Like </br>). I prefer to click the attach image option that allows you to choose a file so you can search your PC for it..

I hope this helps you. Image sizes are better than in the past because i have found the area that controls the size.
