Miniature horridula
« on: May 09, 2017, 10:15:42 PM »
This wee plant is 3 1/2" high from the top of the flower pot. It has four more tiny flower buds yet to open. Horridula seed sown last autumn from my own seed from the previous year. About 20 others from the same batch but no others in flower.

What colour are the stamens?

See Ian Scott's comment on my horridula post, he says they should be yellow or golden.

The filaments look to be black or very dark blue the anthers are a chalk colour so dirty white not yellow or golden. The colour in the photographs is quite true. Attached some close ups sorry for the blur, colour is true. In fact the colour of the centre parts looks like your photo of racemosa but the plant is tiny and all parts in proportion to the size. Pretty cute.

Hi Alice,

Could you take a photo from the side to show whether the stigma protrudes beyond the boss of stamen, or is roughly the same length.

Sorry about the quality of the attachment. This is the first flower and it looks as if the stigma protrudes. The second flower it is about the same as the stamen. The stem has gained a bit more height so maybe just a stunted example as it is flowering on a first year plant.
